Dr. Luiza Petre

Luiza Petre is a weight loss expert and offered some insight on how to survive the holidays without gaining weight. Even though never-ending temptations are anywhere, holiday events and dinners don’t have to hinder your good weight loss experience. Planning is crucial. Dr. Luiza Petre from MediWeightLoss provided the following tips:

  • Never go to a vacation party on an empty stomach. This is a recipe for disaster. Make sure to each some healthy and balanced protein before the party to take of the cravings edge. When possible, find out what is being catered to and write down what you intend to consume.
  • Be mindful of the Cocktails. Alcohol and dieting don’t go well with each other. Not only does it add calories, but it also lowers your inhibitions and inevitably you end up consuming more. Plan in advancement to restrict yourself to no more than two alcoholic drinks per night and have a full glass of water before each drink.
  • Tactfully say no to the food pushers. They all mean well but the people saying,” please take one more” or” I prepared this for you,” can be uncaring or oblivious of your dieting needs. Don’t feel reluctant about gently saying no thank you. And if that doesn’t work, simply say: “I actually had one– it was delicious!”
  • Pay awareness to the company first and the food second. Make a point to move around at vacation celebrations and catch up with friends and loved ones. Try to stay distant from the food counters, chips and other snacks while you are talking so that you aren’t drawn to eat mindlessly.
  • Reduce the size of your portions. The holidays are a time for special recipes and likes. You don’t have to go cold turkey, you just need to take care of your consumption so as not to totally derail your weight loss undertakings. Most eating venues portions are substantially bigger than is called for. Take into consideration splitting the dish in half and asking the waitress to put it in a package to go. Or offer to share an entrée with a friend. Or get from the starter menu along with a great big salad. Advance and conscious planning is the secret to your success.
  • Rock the dance ground. When you are moving there is a good chance that you are not snacking or drinking. So consider turning up the music and getting in the middle of the fun on the dance ground. The movement will burn as much as 400 calories in a per hour and you will be the light of the event.

Party With no Guilt
Although the vacation period can be a very tough time of the year for weight watchers, there are clever methods to navigate season without paying the price with a big weight gain. You can have fun and still stay on track.
